Location
Winteringham is situated in North Lincolnshire about 2 miles from Winterton and about 6 miles from Barton on Humber and the Humber Bridge leading to the city of Hull. It has the reputation of being an exclusive small village. It is surrounded on three sides by attractive open fields, farm lands and public footpaths. The fourth side faces down to beds of reeds and then the Humber estuary. The village is within easy reach of the nearby towns of Winterton, Barton on Humber, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and the city of Hull. It is steeped in history being a former Roman settlement with ferry crossing and later a stopping off point for marauding Vikings on their way to central and north England. The local council makes great efforts to maintain the character of the village. |
